# How to change the chatbox background

*This article explains how to change the background pattern used in the Crisp chatbox.*

Background patterns are a simple way to make the widget feel closer to your brand while keeping the chatbox layout familiar for visitors.

You can choose a background pattern from the chatbox appearance settings.

__To update the background pattern:__
1. Go to [**Crisp**](https://app.crisp.chat)
2. Open **Settings → Chatbox Settings → Chatbox Appearance**
3. Find **Chatbox background**
4. Select the pattern you want to use
5. Let Crisp auto-save the change
