# How to connect a Smiirl Counter with Crisp

*Learn how to connect a Smiirl counter to Crisp so it can display live Crisp metrics on a physical counter.*

The **Smiirl** plugin provides a JSON URL that your Smiirl counter can read. You can choose which Crisp metric to display, then adjust the refresh frequency from Smiirl.

1. Plug in your Smiirl counter.
2. Go to [**Smiirl Start**](https://smiirl.com/start).
3. Follow the instructions on screen.
4. Confirm the counter is ready to be linked to Crisp.

# ${color}[#0080dd](Link your Smiirl counter to Crisp)

1. Go to [**Crisp**](https://app.crisp.chat).
2. Open **Plugins → Smiirl** and install the plugin.

3. Click the URL shown in Crisp to copy it to your clipboard.

4. Go to [**Smiirl**](https://my.smiirl.com/) and open your counter settings.
5. Select the **JSON URL** option.
6. Paste the URL copied from Crisp.
7. Select the **count** attribute.

Your Smiirl counter is now connected to Crisp.

# ${color}[#0080dd](Choose the metric shown on the counter)

The Smiirl plugin can display one metric at a time.

__Available Crisp metrics include:__
* **Website Visitors** → the number of people currently on your website
* **Total Contacts** → the number of contacts saved in your Crisp CRM
* **Unread Messages** → the total number of unread messages in your Inbox
* **Pending Conversations** → conversations that are pending and have not been handled yet

To change the metric, go to [**Crisp**](https://app.crisp.chat), open **Plugins → Smiirl**, then select the metric from the dropdown menu.

The update frequency is managed from Smiirl.

1. Go to [**Smiirl**](https://my.smiirl.com/).
2. Open your counter settings.
3. Choose the reactivity interval you want to use.
