# How to Install a Support Chat SDK on React Native Mobile Apps

*This article explains how to install Crisp Chat in a React Native application for iOS and Android.*

The [Crisp React Native Chat SDK](https://crisp.chat/en/sdk/react-native/) lets customers contact your team directly from your mobile app, without sending them to an external support page.

Messages are centralized in the [Crisp shared inbox](https://crisp.chat/en/shared-inbox/), where your support team can continue the conversation with the full customer context.

**In this guide, you will learn how to:**

The Crisp React Native SDK adds an in-app support chat experience to applications built for iOS and Android.

Your customers can start or continue conversations without leaving the app, while your support team receives and manages those messages from the Crisp Inbox.

The SDK also supports features such as:

* Customer profile and session data
* Conversation history
* Push notifications
* SDK event listeners
* Crisp Knowledge Base access
* Automated conversation scenarios

This helps you provide a consistent support experience across your website and mobile application.

The SDK uses native iOS and Android modules. The exact installation depends on whether your application uses **Expo** or a **bare React Native project**.

Before starting:

* Check the current Expo, React Native, iOS, and Android requirements
* Copy the Website ID of the Crisp workspace you want to connect
* Decide whether your app needs push notifications
* Make sure you can rebuild the native iOS and Android applications

You can find your workspace identifier by following [**How to find your Crisp Website ID**](https://help.crisp.chat/en/article/where-to-find-my-website-id-1ylqx1s/).

||| Expo Go cannot load the native modules required by the Crisp SDK. Use an Expo development build or a bare React Native project.

For an Expo application, install the package with:

```bash
npx expo install crisp-sdk-react-native
```

For a bare React Native application, first make sure Expo modules are configured, then install the package:

```bash
npx install-expo-modules@latest
npm install crisp-sdk-react-native
```

Additional iOS and Android configuration is required after installing the package.

Because platform requirements can change, follow the [official React Native Chat SDK documentation](https://docs.crisp.chat/guides/chatbox-sdks/react-native-sdk/) for the current native configuration and minimum supported versions.

Once the package is installed, configure the SDK with your Crisp Website ID when the application starts.

You can then add a button or another action inside your interface to open the Crisp chat.

Before releasing the integration, check that:

1. The chat opens correctly on iOS and Android
2. Test messages appear in the correct Crisp workspace
3. Existing customer sessions are restored as expected
4. Push notifications work when the app is closed, when enabled
5. Customer information is correctly synchronized with Crisp

For advanced implementation options, code examples, session continuity, event listeners, and push notification setup, use the [official React Native SDK guide](https://docs.crisp.chat/guides/chatbox-sdks/react-native-sdk/).
