# How to protect the Knowledge behind a password

*Protect your Crisp Knowledge Base with a password when you want to restrict access to your help content.*

Password protection lets you keep your Knowledge Base available only to visitors who know the password. This is useful for private documentation, internal resources, early-stage product docs, or customer-only help centers.

Start from [**app.crisp.chat**](https://app.crisp.chat), then open **Settings → Knowledge Base Settings → Customize your Knowledge Base → Restrict Access to Knowledge Base**.

__To protect the Knowledge Base:__
* Enable **Restrict Access to Knowledge Base**
* Enter the password visitors should use
* Save the change
* Open the public Knowledge Base to test the password screen
