How to block the chatbox for specific IPs

This article explains how to block the Crisp chatbox for specific IP addresses.

IP restrictions help prevent selected visitors or networks from accessing the chatbox. Crisp supports IPv4, IPv6, and CIDR notation for broader network rules.

Block specific IP addresses

You can add blocked IP rules from the chatbox restrictions settings.

To block an IP address:

  1. Go to Crisp
  2. Open Settings → Chatbox Settings → Chatbox Restrictions
  3. Click Add a blocked IP
  4. Enter the IP address or CIDR range you want to block
  5. Let Crisp auto-save the change

Accepted formats

Crisp accepts single IP addresses as well as CIDR ranges.

Examples of supported rules:

  • IPv4 address44.192.61.10 blocks that specific IPv4 address
  • IPv6 address2607:f0d0:1002:51::4 blocks that specific IPv6 address
  • CIDR range44.192.61.10/24 blocks the matching IPv4 network range

Clear blocked rules

You can remove existing blocked IP and email rules from the same restrictions area by using Clear all Blocked Rules.

Clearing blocked rules removes the existing blocked visitor rules from that menu. Review the list before using it on a production workspace.
