How to enable the "we are online" chatbox tooltip

This article explains what the availability tooltip is and how to show it in the Crisp chatbox.

The availability tooltip is the small popup shown when the chatbox is closed and your team is available. It helps visitors notice that your team is online and ready to help, without opening the chatbox for them.

What the availability tooltip does

When your support is online, Crisp can display a short tooltip near the minimized chatbox. Depending on your setup, it can show messages such as We are online or an estimated reply time.

This tooltip does not control your actual availability status. It also does not remove the green availability indicator shown on the minimized chatbox.

Enable or disable the popup

The setting is a toggle, so you can use the same menu to show or hide the popup whenever needed.

To manage the availability tooltip:

  1. Go to Crisp
  2. Open Settings → Chatbox Settings → Chatbox Behavior
  3. Find Show the availability tooltip when chatbox is closed
  4. Turn the option on to show the popup, or off to hide it

When to enable it

The tooltip is helpful when you want visitors to quickly understand that support is available, especially on pages where users may need reassurance before starting a conversation.

If you prefer a quieter chatbox experience, you can keep the tooltip disabled while still letting visitors open the chatbox manually.
