Install the Crisp WordPress plugin
You can install Crisp directly from the WordPress plugin directory.
To install the Crisp plugin:
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
- Go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for Crisp.
- Install the Crisp WordPress plugin.
- Click Activate.
Once the plugin is activated, a Crisp Settings section appears in your WordPress sidebar.
Link WordPress to your Crisp workspace
After activating the plugin, connect it to your Crisp workspace.
To link WordPress with Crisp:
- Open Crisp Settings from the WordPress sidebar.
- Click Link with Crisp.
- Follow the instructions to connect your Crisp account.
- Select the Crisp workspace you want to connect to your WordPress website.
- Save your setup.
Once your workspace is linked, the Crisp chatbox can start loading on your public website.
Check that Crisp is installed correctly
After connecting your workspace, open your public WordPress website in a browser.
The Crisp chatbox should appear on your website pages.
To test your installation:
- Open your public website.
- Check that the Crisp chatbox appears.
- Send a test message from the chatbox.
- Open your Crisp Inbox.
- Confirm that the test conversation appears in Crisp.
If you do not see the chatbox right away, try opening your website in a private browser window or clearing your WordPress cache.
Troubleshooting
If the chatbox does not appear after installation, start with cache, plugin, and theme checks.
Useful checks include:
- Plugin activation → make sure the Crisp plugin is installed and activated in WordPress
- Plugin connection → reopen Crisp Settings and confirm your workspace is linked
- Cache plugin → purge your WordPress cache, especially if you use WP Super Cache or a similar plugin
- Browser cache → test again in a private browser window or another browser
- Theme hooks → confirm your theme supports the standard WordPress hooks used by plugins
- Optimization plugins → check whether a performance or script optimization plugin is delaying or blocking the Crisp script
- Public website → make sure you are testing the published version of your website, not only the WordPress admin area
If the plugin cannot inject the script correctly, you can add Crisp manually with the HTML installation guide.
Using WooCommerce?
If your WordPress website uses WooCommerce, you may want more than the live chat widget.
The WooCommerce integration can help you connect ecommerce data such as carts and orders with Crisp.
