How to import & export Analytics dashboards

Import and export Analytics Dashboards to reuse reporting setups across browsers, teammates, workspaces, or prebuilt Crisp templates.

Dashboard import and export uses .json files. This is useful when you want to save a Dashboard, share it with someone else, install a template, or recreate the same reporting layout in another workspace.

How to import a Dashboard

Importing a Dashboard lets you load a ready-made Analytics Dashboard from a .json file.

Steps

  1. Open Crisp, then go to Analytics → Dashboards.
  2. Click Create a new dashboard at the bottom of the Dashboard list.
  3. Select Import from a file.
  4. Upload your .json file.
  5. Rename or edit the Dashboard once it appears in your list.

What gets imported

All chart configurations, metrics, filters, and layout settings included in the file are recreated automatically. Once imported, the Dashboard works like any Dashboard you build manually.

How to export a Dashboard

Exporting saves your Dashboard as a .json file that you can import again later or share with another teammate.

Steps

  1. Open Crisp, then go to Analytics → Dashboards.
  2. Hover the Dashboard you want to export.
  3. Click ⋯ (More).
  4. Select Export.
  5. Download the generated .json file.

What gets exported

A Dashboard export includes:

  • Chart configurations → the reports and visual settings used in the Dashboard
  • Queries and metrics → the data each chart is built from
  • Filters and date ranges → the configured report scope
  • Dashboard layout → how the charts are arranged

Best practices

Use Dashboard exports as templates, not as permanent backups for every daily change. Keep a shared folder for important team Dashboards such as AI Performance, Support Operations, CSAT, or Knowledge Base Performance.

Dashboard exports are especially useful when you want to:

  • Onboard teammates → give new agents or managers the same reporting view
  • Reuse setups across workspaces → replicate Analytics layouts for multiple brands or teams
  • Share prebuilt templates → distribute a clean Dashboard structure without manual setup
  • Protect useful layouts → reimport a Dashboard if local browser preferences are reset

Some Dashboard preferences and display settings may depend on local browser storage. Export important Dashboards when you want to reuse them reliably.
