How to connect Instagram pages (DM) with Crisp

Learn how to connect Instagram to Crisp so your team can reply to Instagram DMs and story reactions from the Inbox.

The Instagram integration connects an Instagram Business account to Crisp through Meta. Once configured, Instagram messages are handled alongside your other Crisp conversations.

The Instagram integration is available from the Crisp Essentials plan.

Before getting started

Make sure these requirements are met before connecting Instagram:

  • Your Instagram account is an Instagram Business Account
  • You have admin rights for the Instagram account
  • The Instagram Business Account is connected to a Facebook Page

Meta manages the connection between Instagram and Facebook pages. If one of these requirements is missing, the account may appear as unavailable or not configured in Crisp.

Link Instagram with Crisp

  1. Go to Crisp.
  2. Open Plugins → Instagram.
  3. Click View Details → Install Plugin.

Search for the Instagram plugin in Crisp

Configure Instagram preferences

The Instagram plugin includes preferences that let you auto-resolve or bypass specific message types based on how your team wants to handle Instagram traffic.

  1. Go to Crisp.
  2. Open Plugins → Instagram → Preferences.
  3. Enable or disable the options you need.

Connect multiple Instagram accounts

You can connect multiple Instagram accounts to the same Crisp workspace. If you need Crisp to access additional accounts, disconnect and reconnect your Business Manager account, then select the new Instagram accounts during the Meta authorization flow.

Reconnect Instagram to authorize additional accounts

One Instagram account is included with the Crisp Essentials plan. Additional Instagram accounts may require an extra monthly fee; contact Crisp support if you need to increase your account limit.

Troubleshooting

The plugin says “Not Configured” and the Connect button is disabled

This usually means the Facebook Page connected to Crisp does not have an Instagram account linked to it. Connect the correct Instagram Business Account to the Facebook Page, then reconnect the plugin.

Instagram plugin not configured in Crisp

I cannot see my Facebook Page in the list

Meta's login and permission flow may hide pages if Crisp was not granted access to them. Reconnect the plugin, click Edit Settings in the Meta window, and select the pages Crisp should access.

I changed my Instagram or Facebook password

If the Facebook or Instagram account credentials changed, reconnect Instagram from Plugins → Instagram so Crisp can receive a fresh authorization token.

Instagram messages are not landing in Crisp

Start by fully reconnecting the Instagram plugin.

  1. In Crisp, go to Plugins → Instagram.
  2. Click Reconnect with Instagram.
  3. Re-associate the Instagram account and its Facebook Page.
  4. If the issue persists, disconnect and reconnect the Instagram page completely.

Then check the Meta configuration from the Facebook account that manages the page.

  1. Go to Facebook and log in as the connected page.
  2. Open the page settings.

Open Facebook Page settings

  1. Go to Linked Accounts → Instagram and confirm the correct Instagram account is connected.
