How to connect Twilio with Crisp

Learn how to connect Twilio SMS to Crisp so your team can receive and reply to text messages from the Inbox.

The Twilio plugin connects one Twilio phone number to your Crisp workspace. It supports SMS only; voice calls are not handled by this plugin, so use a phone integration such as Aircall or Ringover if you also need calling.

The Twilio integration is available from the Crisp Essentials plan.

What the Twilio plugin supports

The Twilio plugin lets you connect Twilio SMS messaging to Crisp. Once connected, incoming SMS messages appear in your Crisp Inbox, and your team can reply from Crisp without switching tools.

The Twilio plugin does not support Twilio voice calling. If you need phone calls in Crisp, connect a dedicated phone integration instead.

Link Twilio with Crisp

Make sure you have access to your Twilio Account SID, Account Token, and the Twilio phone number you want to connect.

  1. Go to Crisp.
  2. Open Plugins → Twilio.
  3. Install the Twilio plugin if it is not installed yet.
  4. Paste your Account SID and Account Token.
  5. Choose the Twilio Phone Number Crisp should use.
  6. Save your configuration.

After the plugin is connected, send a test SMS to your Twilio number and check that the conversation appears in your Crisp Inbox.

Troubleshooting

I do not receive SMS messages in Crisp

Crisp may fail to configure the webhook if another provider is updating the same Twilio number at the same time. Check the webhook directly in Twilio.

  1. Open the Twilio Console.
  2. Go to Phone Numbers.
  3. Select the phone number connected to Crisp.
  4. Check the messaging webhook.
  5. Make sure the webhook starts with https://plugins.crisp.chat/urn:crisp.im:twilio:0/.

I cannot reply to users from Crisp

Make sure the Account SID and Account Token are correct, and that those credentials have access to the Twilio phone number connected to Crisp. If the credentials were regenerated in Twilio, update them in Plugins → Twilio as well.
