What happens when my LiveTranslate weekly quota is reached

Understand what happens when your workspace reaches a LiveTranslate quota and how to request higher limits.

LiveTranslate quotas protect the service from abuse while keeping translation usage predictable across busy inboxes. If a quota is reached, new translation requests are temporarily rejected until capacity becomes available again or your limits are increased.

LiveTranslate quotas

LiveTranslate quotas apply per workspace and are shared by all operators using the feature.

Current included quotas:

  • Translated characters1,000,000 characters per month for paid Essentials and Plus plans
  • Trial translated characters100,000 characters per month for Essentials and Plus trials
  • Translation requests5,000 requests every 3 hours for paid Essentials and Plus plans
  • Trial translation requests2,000 requests every 6 hours for Essentials and Plus trials

Trial quotas are upgraded to the paid limits once the workspace is paid for the first time.

What happens when a quota is reached

When at least one LiveTranslate quota is reached, further translation requests are rejected with a quota limit reached error in the Crisp dashboard.

LiveTranslate quota limit reached error

In many cases, this is temporary. A high number of translation requests in a short period can trigger a request quota, which usually clears after a few hours.

If the monthly translated character quota is reached, you may need to wait longer or increase your quota.

Monthly translated character quotas are spread across four weeks. If one weekly portion is reached, you may need to wait before translating again, even if the full monthly number has not been used at once.

Request a higher quota

You can request higher limits from the Crisp dashboard if your workspace needs more LiveTranslate capacity.

To increase LiveTranslate limits:

  1. Go to Crisp
  2. Open Settings → Workspace Settings → Data, Limits & Legal
  3. Request a higher LiveTranslate limit
  4. Follow the billing and validation steps shown in the dashboard

Pricing logic for higher character quotas

The monthly price for higher quotas is calculated from additional weekly character capacity.

Pricing rules:

  • Included characters → the first 250,000 characters per week are included in your plan
  • Extra limit price20 USD per additional 250,000 characters per week
  • High-volume discount → after 20 million extra characters, each additional 1 million extra characters can be discounted by 30% after contacting support

Examples:

  • 2.5 million total characters per week20 USD x (10 - 1) = 180 USD per month in addition to the Crisp subscription
  • 12.5 million total characters per week20 USD x 20 + 14 USD x (30 - 1) = 806 USD per month in addition to the Crisp subscription

The dashboard and Crisp support should be treated as the source of truth for billing details when you request a quota increase.

Why LiveTranslate has quotas

LiveTranslate relies on external translation infrastructure, which creates usage-based costs. Quotas help Crisp keep translation included in paid plans while preventing a small number of workspaces from consuming disproportionate translation resources.

For most teams, the included quotas are enough. Higher limits are mainly useful for busy international inboxes with heavy translation usage.
