How to add conversation participants (CC recipients)

Conversation participants let you add extra email recipients to an ongoing conversation, much like CC in traditional email.


This is useful when the person you are helping wants a colleague copied into the thread. Once participants are added, email replies from Crisp are sent to them too, so everyone can follow the same conversation without leaving the Inbox.



Understand participant limits


Participants are available on all plans, but the maximum number depends on the plan.


Current limits are:

  • Crisp Essentials and Plus → 10 extra participants per conversation
  • Crisp Mini → 3 extra participants per conversation
  • Crisp Free → 1 extra participant per conversation


These limits count extra participants only. The conversation owner's email address is not part of that extra-participant count.


If you hit the limit, you can still remove an existing participant and replace them with another one.



Add participants from the conversation sidebar


You can add participants directly from the conversation details on the right side of the Inbox.

Add a participant email address to the conversation


Once a participant is added or removed, the team sees an internal event message in the conversation timeline.

After that, outgoing email replies sent from Crisp include those participants in CC.



Let customers add participants too


Participants are not limited to changes made by your team.


If a customer replies by email and CCs someone, those CC'd addresses can be added automatically as conversation participants.

This helps the conversation stay unified even when the customer side expands the thread.



Know how participant emails behave


Once participants exist on a conversation, outgoing email replies are sent to all of them.


Email received by participants with the CC context visible


Participants receive the same email notifications as the main recipient for replies sent on that conversation.


When a conversation has participants, Crisp still emails them even if the latest message was already read in the chat widget. This ensures every participant receives the conversation follow-up over email.
