How to create and send an email from the inbox

Start an outbound email conversation directly from the Crisp Inbox when you need to contact a customer first.

Crisp is not limited to incoming conversations. You can also create a new email conversation yourself from the Inbox, which is useful for follow-ups, manual outreach, or continuing an existing customer relationship from one shared workspace.

This feature is meant for conversational email, such as one-to-one follow-ups or small recipient groups. For bulk sends, use Campaigns.

What you need before starting

Before you create an outbound email, make sure email is enabled in your workspace and that you have the contact details you want to use.

The two key details you need are:

  • Full name
  • Email address

If you have not configured inbound and outbound email yet, start with How can I receive Emails in Crisp?

Create a new email conversation

Open your Inbox in Crisp, then use the More actions menu in the lower-left area of the inbox and click Create a new conversation.

Open the create conversation action from the Inbox

Enter the contact's full name and email address, then choose the email channel if prompted.

Fill in the contact details for the new email conversation

Once the conversation is created, write your email in the composer and click Send Message.

Useful things to know

Add more recipients when needed

If the conversation needs other recipients in copy, you can add them as participants after the email thread is created.

Read the dedicated guide: How can I add conversation participants / CC recipients?

Start from a contact profile

You can also start a new email conversation from a contact profile when you are already looking at that user's details in Crisp.
