How to use private notes
Use private notes to leave internal context inside a conversation without showing anything to the customer.
Private notes are one of the simplest collaboration tools in the Crisp Inbox. They let your team store context exactly where it matters, which makes handoffs smoother and avoids losing important internal information between replies.
What private notes are for
A private note is an internal message added directly inside a conversation. It is visible to your team, but never to the customer.

Common ways to use private notes
Private notes are especially useful for:
- Handoffs → explain the context before another teammate takes over
- Internal follow-ups → record what still needs to be checked or confirmed
- Team memory → keep useful details attached to the conversation instead of in a separate tool
How to start a private note
You can create a private note directly from the conversation composer.
The quickest ways are:
- Type
/note - Type
/then pressTAB - Choose Note in the composer options
Once the note is open, write your internal message and send it like any other composer entry.
Mention a teammate inside a private note
Private notes also support mentions. If you type @ followed by a teammate's username, Crisp can notify that person directly from the note.

This is useful when you need help from someone else but do not want the customer to see the internal exchange.
