How to troubleshoot account and workspace creation issues

Troubleshoot errors that prevent you from creating a Crisp account, creating a workspace, or adding a new workspace.

Account and workspace creation can be blocked by regional availability, abuse-prevention checks, VPN usage, or network reputation. The checks below help you retry from a clean setup before contacting support.

Understand the errors

You may see one of these messages when creating an account or workspace:

Common error messages:

  • You have been forbidden to create an account. → account creation was blocked by a security or availability rule
  • You were banned from creating a Crisp account. Please contact our support service. → creation was blocked by abuse-prevention checks
  • Unexpected sign-out → you may be logged out while creating or adding a workspace if the creation step is rejected

These errors do not always mean your personal account is permanently blocked. They often indicate that the creation attempt needs to be retried from a different network or without a VPN.

Check the most common causes

These errors can happen when:

  • Your country is not available for registration → contact support with details about your company and location so the team can confirm the situation
  • A VPN is active → disable the VPN while creating the account or workspace, then re-enable it after the creation step is complete
  • Your network is restricted → public networks, aggressive firewalls, shared IP addresses, or networks used for repeated account creation can trigger protection rules

A quick test is to retry from another trusted network, such as your mobile data connection, without using a VPN.

Retry workspace creation safely

If you keep getting logged out while creating a workspace, retry with a simpler environment.

Recommended retry steps:

  1. Disable your VPN or proxy
  2. Switch to another network, such as mobile data
  3. Open a private or incognito browser window
  4. Sign in again and create the workspace from Crisp
  5. If the same error appears, contact support and include the account email address and error message

If the issue persists after these checks, Crisp support can review the account state and help create the workspace when appropriate.

Quota exceeded or rate‑limit errors

You may also see "Your quota has been exceeded for this action" when creating a workspace. This is typically caused by:

  • Too many creation attempts in a short period (rate‑limit protection)
  • A VPN or proxy still being detected
  • Network/IP reputation issues

What to do:

  • Wait a few hours before trying again — rate limits automatically reset
  • Make sure your VPN is fully disabled
  • Retry from another network (for example, mobile data) and incognito mode

In some regions, new account or workspace creation may be restricted. If you are located in a country where creation is temporarily unavailable, a colleague outside that country can create the workspace for you.
